What makes a good teacher?

Questions and answers
What makes a good teacher?
The question
Melissa Trujillo, Guatemala
As teachers, we are constantly reflecting on our teaching, our students, our methods, and even our decisions as educators. In your opinion, what makes a "good teacher"? Please, I am researching about "good teachers" and I would appreciate your opinions.
What's your opinion?
Youssef, Morocco
For me a good teacher is the one who gets his students interested and makes them take responsibility for their learning by involving them in making the classroom a positive atmosphere for learning. I would say also a good teacher is the teacher who helps his students understand with the least effort.
Rica Andima, Namibia
A good teacher is well trained, equipped and knowledgeable. He/she studies and understands learners' educational needs both in the classroom and out. As a teacher in the class he/she is a facilitator in shaping learners' characters and helping them to realise their dreams.
Ivna Maia Fuchigami, Brazil
What makes a good teacher, in my opinion, is his/her capacity of making the student like the subject, learn it, and broaden his vision about the world. All my best teachers were those who, besides having an amazing expertise in their field, used to make me think about the world we live in. I had incredible teachers whose guidance, until today, has helped me see things that happen in my life and in the world. Therefore, for me, what makes a good teacher is the capacity of helping the student grow as a full human being: ethical, responsive, intelligent, altruistic, and skilled.
Gonzalo Vallejo, Mexico
...is friendly, explains things, let students do it by themselves, does the lesson toghether with his/her students, elicits constantly, talks about the institutions positively, plays games, tells jokes, is one of us (students point of view), doesn't push weak learners, asks students opinions, and many many more things...
